Most
international tourists to pay a premium for Vietnamese food
According
to a survey on “International tourism trends in 2011” of
Visa Company, approximately 70% of 300 foreign tourists to
Vietnam in the last two years spent more money for
Vietnamese food and a forecast on 64% of over 300 tourists
in the coming time.
The survey is conducted over 11.000 tourists from 23
countries of Asia-Pacific, Europe and Middle East, America
in February and March 2011.
With its distinctive culture and beautiful natural
landscapes, Vietnam has become one of the most attractive
destinations for tourists from Singapore, Thailand,
Australia and the Republic of Korea. Of which, 24% of
foreign tourists to Vietnam is from Singapore and Thailand
(12% from each country), and Australia (10%).
Remarkably, surveyed tourists said that they would be
willing to pay a premium for food (69%), visit exotic
destinations (65%). Besides, future ones said they like to
enjoy outdoor activities, take food tours to explore the
local cuisine and experience the local night life in
Vietnam.
In 2011, Vietnam welcomed 6 million international visitors
and 30 million national ones in an increase of 19%, 7,1% and
30% respectively compared with the year of 2010. The total
tourism revenue of Vietnam gained VND 130,000 billion. This
year, we will set target at 6.5 million international
tourists (up 8.3% compared with 2011) and 32 million
national ones (up 6.7%) in revenue of VND 150,000 billion.
