Launch tourism strategy “Warmth Southeast Asia”

On 25th January, at the Tourism Forum in Brunei, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) consists of 10 member nations booted a new tourism stragegy with the slogan “Southeast Asia: Feel the warmth”.

According to the ASEAN Tourism Association, this strategy focuses on atracting tourists from Asian markets such as Australia and India, as well as more distant markets such as UK, Hong Kong and North America.
Mr. Felix J. Cruz, Chairman of the AESAN Tourism Association, said that the campaign had the supporting objectives of promoting multi-destination travel within ASEAN countries, boosting tourism as a tool to flight poverty in the poorer areas of ASEAN

At the forum, Mr Pehin Yahya - Brunei’s Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, comments that Southeast Asea creates opportunities for visitors to participate in eco-tourism tour and find out about the local cuisine.

Last week, United Nations World Tourism Organization forecasts that the number of international tourist arrivals in ASEA will grow between 3% and 4% in 2010 after decreasing about 4% in 2009.
